From drawing to delivery: how custom metal production works

June 2, 2026 · reading time ± 3 minutes

Ordering a customer-specific metal part doesn't have to be complicated. At Intermetal, every custom product follows the same clear process: from your drawing to a delivered product, with one partner for the whole journey. Here's how it works in practice.

Step 1: Your drawing or STEP file

It all starts with your specification. A technical drawing or a STEP file is ideal, but we can also work with a clear sketch that includes dimensions. Let us know what the part is for and in what quantities you need it, that helps us choose the smartest production method.

Step 2: Non-binding quote

Based on your drawing, you'll receive a non-binding quote, usually within 24 hours. It states exactly what you'll get: material, operations, finish and lead time. No surprises afterward.

Step 3: In-house production

Once approved, the part goes into the workshop. Intermetal has seven metalworking operations under one roof: laser cutting, bending, robot welding, sawing, spot welding, welding and drilling. Because everything is handled in-house, we stay in control of every step; that is the foundation of our authentic quality.

  • Laser cutting for precise contours from sheet material.
  • Bending to shape plates exactly as needed.
  • Robot welding for consistent, repeatable welds in series production.
  • Sawing, spot welding, welding and drilling for everything else the product needs.

Step 4: Delivery across Europe

The finished product is delivered wherever you need it, in the Netherlands and across Europe. One partner from order to delivery means: one point of contact, one schedule and no hassle between links in the chain.

Who is this for?

For trailer manufacturers looking for series of parts, but just as much for builders of tiny houses or chalets who need a custom-built chassis, and for everyone in between. Customer-specific metal parts for a wide range of applications: that is exactly what our special production is for.
